Kuria Labeo (Labeo gonius) (Bengali: গনি, কুর্চি, ঘান্যা, ঘোনিয়া, ঘাইন্না), is a carp of the Cyprinidae family[1], it is found in fresh water sources around the Bay of Bengal, which includes rivers in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Myanmar.[2] Though normally not found in ponds, it can been cultured in ponds. L. Gonius has been recorded from Afghanistan[3] and Nepal[4] as well. Maximum published length for the fish is 150 centimetres (59 in)[5] and maximum published weight is 1,360 grams (48 oz).[6] Spawning during the southwest monsoon, it is one of the endemic spices of Bangladesh.[7]
